1. Consistent handle names

All of your social media accounts should have the same @handlename. This takes out the guessing game when a person wants to follow you across all platforms.

2. A clear concise bio or about page

Your followers shouldn’t have to guess or assume what you’re offering. In a sentence or two, your bio or about page should communicate who you are and why you’re there.

3. Matching profile pictures

Unless you’re running a specific campaign, all of your profile pictures should match. This is for consistent branding and recognition.

4. A unified voice and tone

It’s important for your social media channels to all sound the same. What is the feeling you want your brand to convey? Is it educational, direct, light hearted, humorous? This can be tough when multiple people are managing the accounts, but with proper resources and training everyone write from the same voice to convey the brand.

5. Content that is always relevant to your brand

If you have a dog walking business, all of the content on your channels should relate to dog walking. How will someone know you’re a dog walker if you are posting pictures of home decor? Everything that is posted on your social media channels should be on brand.
